Captain Chris Bowden’s passion for the outdoors began in the mountains of West Virginia, where fishing, hunting, and exploring nature shaped his early years. Catching his first fish as a young boy sparked a lifelong love for the water and a desire to chase new species in new places.

That passion eventually led him to the saltwater fisheries of the Carolina coast, where he found his true calling. Redfish quickly became a favorite target, and Chris spent countless hours learning the waters around Myrtle Beach, studying tides, seasonal patterns, and local structure. Time spent fishing alongside experienced local and professional guides helped refine his skills and deepen his understanding of the area’s inshore and nearshore fisheries.

Myrtle Beach soon became home for Chris and his family. After completing his college degree and settling in North Carolina full time, he continued building his expertise in coastal navigation, boating safety, and guided fishing techniques.

Today, as the captain of Coastal Marsh Charters, Chris combines local knowledge, hands on experience, and a genuine love for teaching to create safe, productive, and memorable fishing charters in Myrtle Beach. He is committed to helping every guest feel confident on the water, learn something new, and leave with stories worth sharing.
